Van Gambrell is an associate in the Charlotte office of Moore & Van Allen. Gambrell concentrates his practice in intellectual property with a focus on patent prosecution, technology intellectual property diligence, and technology transactions.  Gambrell’s patent prosecution practice includes patent preparation, patent prosecution, patent investigations, and product clearance.  Gambrell’s technology and intellectual property diligence includes IP asset ownership analysis, patent prosecution history analysis, intellectual property asset scheduling, intellectual property contract analysis, and contract provision analysis for M&A agreements, financial lending agreements, and bankruptcy transaction agreements.  Gambrell’s technology transaction practice includes technology transfer agreements, technology licensing agreements, and data security compliance.

Before practicing law, Gambrell studied biomedical engineering at Vanderbilt University and held a position as a researcher in a state-of-the-art biomedical imaging lab. Gambrell’s research experience makes him knowledgeable about biomedical devices, pharmaceuticals, tumor physiology, and medical imaging.

Gambrell graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he served as President of the Intellectual Property Society, as an Editor on the Journal of International Law & Business, and as a Law Clerk for the University’s Office of Technology Commercialization.
