Moore & Van Allen Elects Nine Attorneys to Firm Membership

Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that it has elected nine attorneys as members of the firm. The new members are Robert K. Burrow, Suzanne K. Gainey, James “Van” V.C. Gambrell, Matthew “Matt” R. MollozziKaitlin D. Powers, C. Cowden W. Rayburn, Ben E. Shook, and Emily Pera Stevenson.

Robert K. Burrow represents banks, financial institutions, and corporate clients in the structuring, negotiating and documenting of senior debt financing arrangements, including secured and unsecured, single bank and syndicated credit agreements, multicurrency and cross-border financing facilities, and leveraged acquisition financings. He has worked on financings for companies in various industries, including healthcare, technology, manufacturing, restaurants, defense, and consumer retail.

Suzanne K. Gainey focuses her practice on a wide range of technology, intellectual property (IP), and privacy matters, including transactional work. She concentrates on supply chain, licensing, technology and commercial transactional matters, as well as data security and privacy, for clients across numerous industries, including financial services, manufacturing, and healthcare. She has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including licensing agreements, outsourcing agreements, cloud services agreements, reseller agreements, referral agreements, and payment processing agreements.

James “Van” V.C. Gambrell concentrates his practice on IP acquisition and licensing, supply chain and commercial transactions, and patent prosecution. His transactional practice includes IP acquisition and licensing matters, technology transfer agreements, data security compliance, supply chain, and other commercial and technology transaction matters. He also has significant experience managing a variety of IP diligence matters in connection with M&A agreements, financial lending transactions, and restructuring matters. In addition, he advises clients in connection with patent preparation, patent prosecution, patent investigations, and product clearance involving a wide range of technologies across a variety of industries.

Matthew “Matt” R. Mollozzi practices in financial services, handling various equipment finance and structured finance transactions on behalf of financial institutions, lenders, lessors and borrowers with an emphasis on rail and aircraft equipment.

Kaitlin D. Powers represents financial institutions, including commercial banks and Farm Credit System banks and associations, as well as insurance companies and other institutional investors in various senior and mezzanine financing transactions and investments. She advises clients on structuring and documenting secured and unsecured credit facilities and single-lender and syndicated lending transactions across a wide array of industries. Her experience includes acquisition financing, real estate financing, and asset-based lending. Kaitlin also heads MVA’s Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses (CLIMB) and is a board member of The Arts Empowerment Project.

C. Cowden W. Rayburn focuses his practice on a variety of transactional fields, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, complex commercial transactions, and general business issues. Cowden has represented a variety of clients in complex mergers and acquisitions across a wide range of industries, including publicly traded Fortune 100 corporations and private equity firms. In addition to drafting and updating corporate governance documents for established public and private companies, Cowden also works with a variety of startups and entrepreneurs in the launch of new ventures. He also advises clients on international commercial transactions and joint ventures. Cowden currently serves as the chair of MVA’s Young Professionals Committee and is a recent graduate of the Community Building Initiative’s Leaders Under 40 program.

Ben E. Shook represents companies and individuals in a variety of complex commercial disputes, including shareholder disputes, business torts, and complex contract disputes. For clients across a wide array of industries, he has handled numerous federal and state court trials, including several bet-the-company disputes.

Emily Pera Stevenson has extensive litigation experience, representing employers in a full range of employment matters, including those brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and their state law equivalents, and whistleblower statutes. She has handled several jury trials, administrative trials, and arbitrations involving claims of discrimination, failure to accommodate, and retaliation to successful defense verdicts and awards. She also has represented employers in wage matters before state agencies and successfully defended employers in class and collective actions brought under federal, state, and local wage statutes.
