Julianne Farnsworth is an experienced trial lawyer who has practiced complex civil litigation for over thirty years. Julianne has extensive discovery and civil litigation experience in federal and state courts across the United States handling discovery, motions practice, non-jury and jury trials, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals.

Overview

Julianne’s legal practice focuses on assisting her clients in successfully resolving their litigation issues at every stage of the problem, whether in the boardroom or the courtroom. Armed with her three decades of litigation experience, plus being certified as a Mediator in the Circuit Courts of South Carolina and the Federal Courts of South Carolina, Julianne brings a unique perspective and a distinctive set of problem-solving skills to each client and to their specific litigation needs.

Julianne has represented Fortune 500 companies in Class Actions, Multidistrict Litigation (MDLs), Arbitrations, non-jury trials, jury Trials, and appeals, in multiple state and federal jurisdictions across the country, including the Supreme Court of The United States. Julianne’s lengthy practice has included, but is not limited to, cases in the areas of business torts, construction law, environmental law, employment law, franchise law, pharmaceutical product liability and securities law. Her vast litigation experience in multiple areas of the law, and the knowledge and passion that she brings to every case she is involved in, along with her excellent advocacy skills, provides clients with an exceptional level of legal representation.

Julianne frequently lectures on Trial Techniques and Trial Advocacy Skills across the United States and abroad. She is sought out as a panelist on national continuing legal education programs to discuss and to demonstrate how to be an effective advocate for your client. Julianne also has held numerous professional leadership positions with the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar and the American Inns of Court. Julianne is a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference and a recipient of the South Carolina School of Law Compleat Lawyer Award.

Representative Experience

  • Represented the Tobacco Institute in the National Tobacco Litigation cases that culminated in the Master Settlement Agreement in 1998
  • Served as the Administrator for Purdue Pharma litigation in administering the settlement distributions to the Oyxcontin Plaintiff’s representatives
  • Represented Food Lion, Inc. in major litigation in multiple forums with the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union related to employment law allegations
  • Served as National Counsel in a securities fraud MDL representing Republic National Bank and hiring and supervising local counsel in 15 states
  • Represented a regional Child Care Provider in three states handling all of their employment claims, child care liability claims and regulatory claims for over a decade
  • Represented Laidlaw and Safety-Kleen in numerous environmental lawsuits in South Carolina
  • Represented several national franchisors in litigation with their franchisees in Federal Court lawsuits and Arbitration
