Moore & Van Allen (MVA) Financial Services Counsel Ed Ivey was quoted in the recent IFLR Article, “US market stands ready for no new Libor”, noting issues facing the market on the implications of “no new LIBOR contracts” after December 31, 2021. Ed notes that some market participants that are just now starting to appreciate the transition from LIBOR to SOFR may require additional education to appreciate the limitations on “no new LIBOR contracts” in 2022, but also further guidance from the regulators could also be helpful as more and more parties run into situations that appear to be more in a grey space as to what is a “new” contract.
